What Ifs

What if I have to re-schedule or cancel my jump?

Bookings may be changed more than seven days in advance without charge. An administration fee of £100 will be payable if you change the date of your booking with seven days or less notice, unless changed because of bad weather or operational issues at the parachute centre. Anyone failing to show up on the day of their booking will lose the deposit paid. Please read our full terms and conditions.

What if the weather is bad and I can't do my jump?

You should be prepared to spend the whole day with us as the weather changes throughout the day. If the weather prevents you from doing your jump you can simply book an alternative date at the end of the day without loosing your deposit.

What if I'm late?

If you are late you will be put to the back of the queue so will have a longer wait. On busy days you might loose your deposit.

What if I'm over 40 and don't have a valid medical form?

You will have to come back on another date as you cannot jump without this form. You may also loose your deposit, so check you have the right documentation before you come.

Frequently Asked Questions

What’s the age limit?

The minimum age is 16 and anyone below the age of 18 requires a Parental Consent and BPA medical form signed by their parents.Anyone over the age of 40 requires a BPA medical form to be signed by a GP.There is no upper age limit as long as a valid medical form is signed by a GP and the person conforms to the limitations. Please make sure you use the right form for either Tandem or Solo Student.

What’s the weight limit for Tandem Skydives?

Maximum weight is 15 stones. There is no minimum weight limit (as long as the harness fits).

Why is there a weight limit?

It’s due to safety restrictions. The weight limit is restricted by the maximum weight allowed on the reserve parachute which is the instructor’s weight, passenger’s weight plus the weight of the equipment.

What should I bring with me?

You will need to bring your voucher or proof of payment plus a valid medical form (if required).

What should I wear?

Wear loose, comfortable clothing - like sportswear. If you’re jumping in colder months, bring a few layers. Trainers are ideal footwear. Don’t wear boots or shoes that have small hooks on them. You will be provided with goggles, hat, gloves (if required) and a jumpsuit which is worn over your clothes.

How can the weather stop me from jumping?

There are restrictions on the conditions in which we can jump. Blue skies and light winds are ideal. Thick cloud cover prevents us from jumping as we have to see the ground as we leave the aircraft. Our wind limit is 22 mph so we cannot jump in stronger winds. Skydiving is a weather dependent sport.

Will I be able to breathe?

Yes you will. It’s almost the same as sticking your head out of a car window - you may find it hard at first but you can breathe easily.

Can I jump for charity?

Yes many people raise money for a worthy cause by doing a sponsored skydive. Our featured charity is The East Anglian Air Ambulance but you can also jump for your own charity.

Do I need to have a medical form?

If you are over the age of 40 you will need a medical form signed by a GP. 16 and 17 year olds require a witness signature from their parents. Anyone suffering from any medical conditions must have the form signed by their GP. For a full list or to download the medical form click here.

Can I get a regular medical form from a doctor?

No, the medical form must be a BPA Tandem Student Declaration of fitness form available from the centre or online.

Can you film 2 people at the same time?

The camera person can film 2 people on the ground, in the aircraft and on landing but only 1 person can be filmed in freefall - each person has their own camera flyer.

Do I need to book the DVD in advance?

You can decide and book when you arrive but to guarantee that you will be filmed it’s advised that you pre book.

Will my family see me from the ground?

Each tandem parachute has a slightly different colour so you’ll be able to spot them - just ask the instructor which colour canopy he has. There is a spectator area where landings can be observed.

How can I pay?

We accept credit and debit cards, cash and cheques. If paying by cheque, the cheque guarantee card must cover the amount and only 1 cheque may be written.

Can I drink alcohol before I jump?

No! No alcohol can be consumed before you jump - only afterwards! Skydive Airkix have the right to refuse anyone who is suspected to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Can my family/friends come and watch me?

Yes spectators are welcome but please be aware that the Skydive Airkix is based on an active airfield with all its associated risks. All children must be supervised at all times and spectators must remain within the fenced areas. Spectators here at your request should also be aware of the risk that comes with an active airfield.

What if the parachute doesn’t open?

If the main canopy doesn’t open, you have a reserve canopy which the instructor will use. There is also an automatic opening device.
